LA MACCHIA MONGOLICA (Italy, 2020, 57’)

by Piergiorgio Casotti
1996, Massimo Zamboni, musician and founder of the bands CCCP and CSI, embarks on a journey to Mongolia that will prove fundamental to his artistic career and will mark the birth of CSI’s most successful album:
Tabula Rasa Elettrificata.
But that trip was just as fundamental from a human and personal point of view: it was in Mongolia that Zamboni and his partner Daniela decided to become parents.
Twenty years later, at the request of his daughter Caterina, who was born shortly after that trip, he will make the same journey with her and his wife, from Emilia via the Trans-Siberian Railway.
Piergiorgio Casotti and Massimo Zamboni will be present.

ZALESKA PLAYS NOSFERATU DI MURNAU

Caterina Palazzi’s “Zaleska” sonorises the silent film masterpiece “Nosferatu the Vampire”, a 1922 film directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, one of the cornerstones of horror and expressionist cinema. The choice of double bass creates a soundtrack that is even darker and gloomier than the original, an orchestra of funereal basses that envelops the audience in a hypnotic bubble in which the figure of the vampire seems to materialise.

LE RAGIONI DEL DUBBIO
Vera Gheno investigates the mechanisms of our marvellous language, and she does so with the Calvinian lightness of someone who admires weightless language because she knows the weight of language. And in these light but dense pages, she distils a “method” to remind us of the responsibility that each of us has as a speaker. This method is based first of all on doubts, which we must always have before expressing ourselves: we may, in our haste, not have understood what we are really talking about – it happens to everyone, even the most “intelligent”. It happens to everyone, even to the most ‘intelligent’. Then on reflection, which must accompany us every time we formulate a concept. And finally on silence, because sometimes it can also happen, after doubting and meditating, that we wisely decide not to have anything to say.
Vera Gheno will be introduced by Maria Grazia Moratti (Libreria Punto Einaudi)
Event in collaboration with Iniziativa Laica and Libreria Punto Einaudi Reggio Emilia

GAME CHANGE

What have been the great moments of change in the history of cinema? Which directors, which films or movements started new paths? Truffaut, Godard and the others of the nouvelle vague? Antonioni and the tennis match in Blow Up? The New Hollywood of the 1970s? And before that, in the silent and classical era, did cinema not have within itself the signs of a possible break? Among revolutions, inventions and surprises, a journey into the heart of cinema and its infinite ways of telling the world.
Cinema Lesson by Roberto Manassero.

CHANGES

From The Matrix to Amélie, from Harry Potter to Lord of the Rings, we will see together how each character matures and grows through a series of adventures. Depending on the story, his change can lead him to victory or ruin, fulfilment or self-destruction.
We will also look at some short films from the Reggio Film Festival 2021 selection, to see how this discourse can also be portrayed in a short story.
